The Commodores – Everybodys Homecoming!!

This year’s rendition of the Vanderbilt Commodores will be starting the 2010 campaign with a new head coach, all new starters on the offensive line, and 4 returning starters on the defense. Bobby Johnson abrubtly resigned in the off season leaving new head coach Robbie Caldwell to carry the torch. (more…)

The Volunteers – Rocky Top or Rocky Flop!!

When Lane Kiffen – the mouth not from the South – decided to hightail it over to LA to head “home” there were, within the next 48 hours, some videos placed on YouTube by the Vol-Nation that would make anyone’s mother blush. Enter Derek Dooley. He has the pedigree. He has the verbal accumen – he was/is a lawyer. But the question that remains unanswered is does he have the experience to succeed in the SEC. (more…)

The Wildcats – Will The Joker Be Laughing in 2010???

The big news of today was that Kentucky received a commit from a 5-star stud out of Portland, Oregon. Of course this kid is 6’9″, plays with a round ball and on a wood court. UK has always been basketball first U but new HC Joker Phillips plans to even out that focus a bit with some head-turning hit you in the mouth football. (more…)

The Gamecocks – Their Time??

This 2010 version of the South Carolina Gamecocks could very well end up the Beast of the East. This off season the Old Ball Coach has been heard to say that this year he may be fielding the most talented team since his return from the pro ranks. Coach Spurrier just may be right. (more…)

The Gators – Is there Life After Tebow??

Next up in the SEC team shake down is the Florida Gators and of course the main question – Is there Life After Tebow? If you dare to say no, have you seen the Meyer recruits over the last 6 years?? They are what you call high cotton, and down south that means really good. (more…)

The Dawgs – For Real or No Deal

The Dawgs – For Real or No Deal

The first installment for the SEC team break downs will be the in-state team, the Georgia Bulldogs. Not sure anyone really knows how to project out what this years Dawgs team might do. Many of the “experts” have them rated anywhere from #3 in the country to #67 in the country (although I think the latter to be an Orlando reporter prank). (more…)

Will SEC Rule the Roost in 2010?? Uh Huh!!

21 Aug

All right folks!! We are a mere 2 weeks away from the kick-off classic in Atlanta and that gives me just enough time to break down each SEC team for this new 2010 season. I am anticipating a down to the wire run with Florida and Georgia in the East with South Carolina nipping at their heels. (more…)

It’s Time for the Lights

Many think I’m a little over the top … and frankly maybe I am. I’ve scaled back on the recruiting interest some, but I’d still say I’d fit into the recruitnik tray of the sports drawer. Many small rural towns around the nation are abuzz over the next few weeks as high school football hits the stage. In Georgia the highly anticipated first Friday under the lights began last night. (more…)

It’s A Brave World – Again!!

It’s been a while since the Braves from Atlanta have been garnering any attention from the pundits at ESPN. I figured that this might be a year when some additional media attention might be thrown their way because of the retirement of the 1st ballot Hall of Famer Bobby Cox. (more…)

It’s Almost Here Folks!!

1 Aug

I must admit. I really start looking forward to Sept around … well to be honest … January!! I really get a thrill from some good roundball, and baseball sees the time go by but southern pigskin … it’s special!! I’m a dude and I’ll fess up to the giddiness and juvenile like excitement experienced the week before … as Al Ciraldo best put is “toe meets leather.” (more…)
